This Friday, we bring the funky soul you know, love, and crave back to Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland. As usual, no cover means that you have no excuses for missing this one. If you haven’t had a chance to stop by Gingko before, then this is the perfect chance to give it a try. A slick little lounge at the corner of Fore and Union, you won’t be disappointed with the atmosphere or the outstanding adult beverage selection available.

To top it off, we’ve got some special folks joining us as well… Alex Cardamone will be bringing the brass on trumpet and powerhouse drummer Chris Marro will be laying down the beat.

Head on over to Empire Dine & Dance for a tribute to the life and music of Levon Helm. The evening begins with a screening of The Last Waltz and then finishes up with local musicians playing selections from The Band. Included in that group of locals is our very own Lisa Brundage!

Stop on by, have a pint, say hi to Lisa, and pay tribute a great musician.

In case y’all haven’t noticed, we’ve got some pretty dang talented folks hanging around in this here humble little funk band. Why, just last week James was entertaining us with his famous flaming poodle juggling trick* and we have it on good authority that John can do Serbian sign language with his feet.

Which is why it’s no surprise that our drummer, Anthony Marino, is getting lots of attention lately for his painting. The clip above is from a Portland community TV station that recently featured Anthony, and we even got a bit of a shout out as well. * Seriously, you think we’d actually light the poodles on fire? C’mon… James only juggles non-fiery poodles.

If you’ve been itching to learn guitar or know someone who is, why not learn from one of the best? Our very own Sam Berce is now teaching lessons through Midcoast School Of Music at their Bath and Portland campuses.

As anyone with ears who’s been to one of shows is well aware, Sam is an excellent player with a tremendous talent for slide guitar as well. In addition to getting funky like a bowlegged monkey, he’s also adept at blues, jazz, rock, and many other genres as well as music theory.

This Saturday, we’ll be bringing some serious soul to Gingko Blue in Portland. If you haven’t made it out to any of our shows there, then you’ve been missing out! This coming Friday (that’d be March 23rd for those of you scoring at home), we return to the comfy confines of Gingko Blue in Portland’s Old Port for what’s sure to be another great show. If you haven’t made it out to Gingko Blue yet, do yourself a favor and circle this one on the calendar. It’s an upscale swanky little lounge that has a great atmosphere and an even better selection of fine adult beverages for your delectation. Better yet, there’s no cover for this show!

So get yourself all dolled up this Friday and join us at 9pm for some funky tunes. We’ve been working hard on some new tunes since we’ve been there last, so this one is going to be fun.

This Saturday night, we’ll be playing Jimmy The Greek’s at 215 Saco Avenue in Old Orchard Beach. Don’t know what’s so special about that? Other than being another great chance to shake what yo’ mama gave ya, it’s St. Patrick’s Day! What better place to celebrate than a pub that has over 120 beers available and plenty of Guinness on tap?

There’s an early start to this one – 8:00pm – so get your dancing shoes on early. Once we hit the stage, it’s full speed ahead through midnight. Bring a couple friends and spend the day with the Boomshack at The Greek!

First off, thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the shows and getting down with us. Keep bringing it and spread the word to your friends about when we’re in their particular neck of the woods. Remember, it’s selfish to hoard all this funk to yourself.

Second of all, we’re bringing the mothership back to New Hampshire this coming weekend for a show at Kelley’s Row in Dover, New Hampshire on Saturday March 3rd. We had some folks make it out last time despite some nasty weather, and we’re hoping to play for even more of y’all this time around. Show starts at 9:00 pm, but feel free to drop by earlier and get a couple pints beforehand.

Lastly, anyone who is in the Dover/Seacoast area in New Hampshire… How’d you like to help some folks out?
