Morning funkonauts – it’s a beautiful day for some funk, don’t you agree? Well, then slide on downtown and shake everything you got with us. We’re playing at Gingko Blue at the corner of Fore and Union tonight in the Old Port and we want to see every one of you there. This is going to be great show because you’ll get a chance to hear all of the songs from the new album live and in person tonight along with a couple of surprises.
Speaking of the new album, we’re in the process of getting this beautiful 9-track manifesto of funky soul music mastered and ready to get printed onto shiny little discs for y’all to enjoy. Our PledgeMusic campaign is still open for pre-orders and pledges – grab your copy of the album, have it signed, or maybe sign yourself up for a homemade pie or a couple burgers with James. Why did we keep the campaign open? When we started this thing, we set a modest goal that would cover half the cost of recording the album (we fronted the other half). Thanks to your support, we reached that goal the day before going into the studio – which is awesome. Now that we’ve finished recording and mixing, there’s still the very important step of mastering – that last greasy coat of goodness that’ll turn this sucker out. If you’ve already pledged, thank you very much. If you haven’t, then it’s not too late because the campaign will be open through the rest of the month. All pledges and pre-orders from this point forward help us cover the cost of mastering and duplication.
Keep on spreading the word folks and see you tonight!
Well, the reindeer games are done in the studio, so it’s about time we got back out into the world and got our funk on!
Um, it’s still cool if we keep our pajamas on though, right? Right?
Fine, we’ll change…
Tonight, we’ll be hitting Bull Feeney’s like Big Papi taking batting practice – it’s gonna be greasy. It’s gonna be sweaty. It’s gonna be funky. You need to be there. 375 Fore Street is the address and the beat drops at 9:30pm with no cover. If necessary, James and Alex will give out big sweaty hugs to everyone who asks.
So yeah, we’re finished recording the album – nine songs laid down and mixed. We’d like to thank uber-producer Jonathan Wyman over at The Halo for all his hard work and expertise in helping these songs come to life. And while we’re at it, thank you to everyone who kicked in on our PledgeMusic campaign! You’ve been an incredibly important part of making this album.
If you haven’t pre-ordered the album or pledged yet, it’s not too late! We’re keeping the campaign open until the end of March so you can jump on that train right now. Why are we still shilling for this you might ask? Because we set a modest goal for our campaign that covered half of our recording costs (we pulled together the other half). Now that we’re finished recording, it’s time to master all the tracks – a very important part of the process. Every pledge and pre-order now will help us cover the cost of working with some of the best mastering engineers on the planet and help this little baby of ours reach its full potential. So what are you waiting for?
See you tonight!
Greetings Funkonauts! Once again, it’s time to break out all that funky soul music that you love and bring it to one of the most hoppin’ joints in Portland! Come check us out at Bull Feeney’s this Funky Friday night. The beat drops at 9:30 pm and there’s never a cover for Funky Friday. The address is 375 Fore Street, or you can just listen for the party and see us gettin’ down in that second story corner window.
While we’re chatting so amiably, why not also throw in another reminder to vote for us in this year’s Portland Phoenix Best Music Poll as the Best R&B/Soul/Funk Act. While you’re there, throw a couple votes to the Fogcutters and all your favorite artists and musicians.
It’s getting to be about that time when everyone gets themselves out for a good time, and we’re happy to supply the soundtrack for your Friday night adventures!
This Funky Friday, we’ll be venturing to one of Portland’s favorite watering holes, Bull Feeney’s as we’ll be tearing it up on the main stage from 9:30 pm until they kick us all out onto the sidewalks. We’ll be bringing that same mixture of funky soul music that you’ve been craving and possibly a couple of surprises.
Don’t miss out – swing on by 375 Fore Street on Friday. There’s no cover, you’ve got no excuses, and what else are you going to do on a Friday night in Portland?
Funkonauts, it’s been a little while, but we’re bringing the funky soul back to Bull Feeney’s this coming Friday night. As always, this is the perfect time to get out and shake something and get your weekend off on the good foot.
After this, we’ll be taking a few weeks off to enjoy the rest of the summer with our families – get a little sun and fun in before the fall hits. In the meantime, we’ll be working on some new original tunes and covers for y’all to dig once the end of August rolls around. So if you want to get your fix, be sure to get out this Friday night.
The usual rules apply – the beat drops at 9:30pm and there’s never a cover for Funky Friday, so there’s no excuses. Be there and join the rage!
It’s coming up on the fourth Friday of the month, which means it’s time for us to bring the funk back to Bull Feeney’s in Portland!
Bull Feeney’s is a great traditional Irish pub located on Fore Street in the heart of Portland’s Old Port. Two levels, great menu, and a fine selection of local brews and fine scotch are just a few of the key things here folks. A good choice any night of the week, it’s an especially fine destination on Funky Friday. With no cover, you can stop by and swing upstairs for a funky good time with us starting at 9:30 pm and going until almost 1:00 am.
Jump on by, bring a dozen friends, and don’t plan on going anywhere else – THIS is the place to be Friday night!
Hey there funkonauts! Let’s get down to some real talk. You’ve worked hard this week, right? And the week before that? And the one before that? Maybe you can’t pay your rent with good intentions and a smile, but one thing is for sure – you deserve a little groove this week. That’s where we come in – after all, it’s our duty to move that booty!
We’re bringing Funky Friday back to Bull Feeney’s in Portland this Friday night. Forget sitting on the couch, get four or five friends together and get down to Fore Street. Stop by a little early and get some dinner, then get ready to boogie the night away with us. The beat drops at 9:30 pm and doesn’t stop until almost 1:00 am – there’s no cover, so there’s no excuses!
We’re going to have a table set up with some of our “100% Funky Soul” t-shirts, so be sure to grab one on your way by!
Don’t let the rain ruin a perfectly good Funky Friday! Throw on a raincoat, grab an umbrella – whatever you need to do – and get on down with us tonight.
We’re back at Bull Feeney’s in Portland tonight and, as always, it’s gonna be a party in the Old Port. As usual, there’s no cover on Funky Friday, so that means you’re fresh out of excuses funkonaut. Grab two or three of your friends and make your way down to Fore Street to party with us. Music drops at 9:30 pm and continues until we all get kicked out – dig?
Right now, we’re booking more shows and looking forward to taking some time off in October while we gear up for our return to The Big Easy on Saturday November 3rd. For those of you keeping score at home, our first ever gig was playing The Big Easy back in June of 2011 – we were grateful for the chance they gave us back then and we’re super excited to have another show where we’ll be rolling out all the new original material along with some crowd-pleasing favorites. Thanks again for the support and be sure to check in with us on Facebook and Twitter!
