Much Gratitude

First and foremost, all the members of the Boomshack would like to thank all the funkonauts who have been coming out to our shows. All of you getting down with us during the show and the kind words afterwards make this whole thing a lot of fun. So, from the bottom of our funky little hearts we thank y’all – if it weren’t for the restraining orders, we’d give every single one of you a big sloppy kiss on the cheek.

Second, we’d like to extend a special thanks to the folks at Bray’s Brew Pub – Mike, Sonja, and the entire staff. Back when we were getting this deal off the ground a year ago, the good folks in Naples were one of the first to sign us up and give us a place to jam. Since then, we’ve been back a whole bunch of times – outdoors, indoors, snow, rain, and sunshine – and it’s always been a good time. Also, we’d like to thank the folks at The Run of the Mill in Saco who hold the distinction of being the very first folks to give us a gig way back when. In between, it’s been a series of smiles with all the kind people at The Big Easy, Empire Dine & Dance, Bull Feeney’s, Kelley’s Row, Gingko Blue, Jimmy The Greeks, The Press Room, The Church, Federal Jacks, and Montsweag Roadhouse. Thank you for giving us a listen and a place to share our music.

So let’s get to third before things get a little too out of control, shall we? Third, thanks to all the folks who have been hanging with us through this whole process. To Scott Morgan – a bona fide original member of the Boomshack who recorded our awesome demo and has been jumping in with us on gigs ever since. To John Mclaine – one of the driving forces behind The Fogcutters who has been kind enough to share the stage with us a couple times. To Alex Cardamone – our favorite funky trumpet player who has been good enough to hang with us throughout the last year. To Chris Marro – for banging out the beat on gigs with us. And to the folks like Jim Robins and Sayid Brent who sat in with us a bit – dang, it was fun.

After a year, it’s been a blast funkonauts… and we’re looking forward to the coming year even more. Stay funky my friends.

The Mothership Returns To New Hampshire

Happy Monday to all the loyal funkonauts and Boomshack denziens of the world!

First off, thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the shows and getting down with us. Keep bringing it and spread the word to your friends about when we’re in their particular neck of the woods. Remember, it’s selfish to hoard all this funk to yourself.

Second of all, we’re bringing the mothership back to New Hampshire this coming weekend for a show at Kelley’s Row in Dover, New Hampshire on Saturday March 3rd. We had some folks make it out last time despite some nasty weather, and we’re hoping to play for even more of y’all this time around. Show starts at 9:00 pm, but feel free to drop by earlier and get a couple pints beforehand.

Lastly, anyone who is in the Dover/Seacoast area in New Hampshire… How’d you like to help some folks out? If you have a place to put up posters and would be willing to help us out, we can hook you up with a printable PDF you can tack up in your window or plaster around town. Go ahead and click here to download it and we’ll see you on Saturday!

The Return Of Funky Friday

Dig funkonauts, we’re bringing the funk back to Bull Feeney’s this Friday night in a big way. Coming to you all the way live.

Dig out them platform shoes, clean the gunk off them sunglasses, and bring your flashlight – starting at 9:30 pm we’re bringing nothing but straight soul and funk until 1:00 am. So slide on down to Fore Street this Friday night for a good time with us!

And for those future-looking folks out there, we’ll be heading out of Portland for a bit after this… Saturday March 3rd at Kelley’s Row (Dover, NH), Friday March 9th at Bray’s Brew Pub (Naples, ME), and then a big St. Patrick’s Day bash on Saturday March 17th at Jimmy The Greek’s (Old Orchard Beach, ME).

Catch us now or funk us later!

Bringing It Back To Portland!

Afternoon Funkonauts and Happy (Got To Get Over The) Hump Day!

First off, thanks to all the folks who came out to Kelley’s Row last Friday night and helped us get down – the pleasure, as always, was ours. Big shout out to Jim Robins who dropped in and laid down some nasty-good p-bone on the unsuspecting crowd. Keep the faith alive people, we shall return soon.

Next up, we’re bringing the mothership in for a landing in Portland next Friday night at Bull Feeney’s! We’ll be comin’ at ya all the way live from the upstairs room, so if you want a spot to dance, get there soon. The music starts at 9:30 pm, but there’s no reason you can’t there a bit early and sample the fare downstairs before grabbing a pint of whatever-your-pleasure and heading upstairs. Posters will be going up around town later this week, so when you’re heading down the street be sure to point them out to all your friends. They’ll thank you later.

Now, it’s time to get busy with some more tunes (original and otherwise). Peace and hair grease y’all.

This Friday at Kelley’s Row

Afternoon funkonauts! As usual, lots of things happening here aboard the mothership – but there’s one thing in particular we want to talk about today…

This Friday night, we’re making our maiden voyage to a new venue – Kelley’s Row in Dover, New Hampshire. Great Irish pub in the heart of downtown and we’re very excited to bring the funk across state lines. Show starts at 9:30 pm, but don’t let that stop you from getting there early and sampling the menu along with some Guinness to lubricate your dancing shoes. We’ll be bringing it for 3 hours until 12:30, so be ready for a party.

Kelley’s Row is located at 421 Central Avenue in Dover, NH – give ’em a call with any questions at (603) 750-7081. Need directions? Here you go.

See you there!
