New Big Easy Videos

Morning Funkonauts! Hope y’all are ready to get on over the hump this Wednesday. If not, here’s some funky video goodness from our show at The Big Easy back in January to help you out. First up, we have one of our original tunes called “Nothing More To Say”, which features Lisa Brundage on lead vocals and Alex Cardamone on trumpet…

Then, we have the beginning of our Mothership Connection set, “P-Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up)” which featured a whole bunch of solos, but specifically our special guest that night on keyboards, Michael Beling…

The Project’s Farewell Show with Lisa

Lisa Brundage of Mama's BoomshackNeed your Boomshack fix this weekend and terminally mired in bummertude that there’s no show at which to boogie on down like there’s no tomorrow? Fear not Funkonauts!

This Friday night, our very own Lisa Brundage will be playing with The Project as they say good-bye to the Portland music scene. The show goes down at Port City Music Hall Friday July 13th (that’d be this Friday for those of you returning from various intergalactic timezones) – doors open at 8pm, music at 9pm, and tickets are $5-10. Opening up the night will be Andrew Yankowsky Band with the main event to follow.

Who’s The Project? From their own digital lips…

The Project is a mostly original jam band, encompassing elements of Rock, Funk, Folk, Bluegrass, Psychedelia and more! Tight jams, melodic melodies and heartfelt songwriting will take you on a journey of exciting variation. Calm retrospection will quickly make way for building sound to climaxes of soaring guitars and keyboards complimented with the driving tension and release created by the drums and bass.

The Project or members of The Project have shared the stage with: Jimmy Herring Band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Ray Lamontagne, Col. Bruce Hampton, Reid Geneaur and The Assembly of Dust, Little Feat, Chris Barron (of the Spin Doctors), Derek Trucks Band, Robert Randolph, Jazz Mandolin Project, Max Creek, RAQ, Deep Banana Blackout, Jay Giles, Gordon Stone, Ellis Paul, Tom Constanten and more…

Don’t miss out and be sure to give it up loud for Lisa!

Tribute To Levon Helm

So you’re looking for something to do on a Saturday night in Portland but are drawing a blank? Once again, we’ve got you covered… you’re welcome.

Head on over to Empire Dine & Dance for a tribute to the life and music of Levon Helm. The evening begins with a screening of The Last Waltz and then finishes up with local musicians playing selections from The Band. Included in that group of locals is our very own Lisa Brundage!

Stop on by, have a pint, say hi to Lisa, and pay tribute a great musician.
