Ready for Mardi Gras? We are!

All right funkonauts… After some much-needed rest and relaxation, we’re ready to get down to the business of getting down!

Next Friday night, February 12th, you need to get over to  Jimmy The Greek’s in Old Orchard Beach for a little post Fat Tuesday dance party. Bring yourself and a dozen of your friends – we’ll bring the tunes you love. Sound like a deal? We’re also going to be helping out with a Mardi Gras costume contest and the good folks at The Greek are going to be slinging some delightful drinks for your delectation.

Doors open at 8pm, music starts at 9pm, and it’s only 5 bucks to get through the door!

Old Orchard Beach Surge

Opening Night At The Ballpark

Old Orchard Beach SurgeTake me out to the ballgame… take me out to the crowd… buy me some beer and cheeseburgers… I don’t care if I don’t have a rhyme for burgers…

Greetings funkonauts! Who doesn’t love a little baseball in the summer? We’re going to be kicking off opening night at the ballpark for the Old Orchard Beach Surge on Tuesday June 2nd from 6-7pm. Stop by for a beer, get down with us, and then enjoy a night at the ballgame with Maine’s newest professional baseball team. All seats are $5, kids under 11 get in free, and tons of free parking. What’s not to love?

Never heard of the Surge? Good reason for that – they’re a brand new team in the East Coast Baseball League, which is an independent American-Canadian organization that’s the equivalent to Single-A minor league baseball in the US. They’ll be playing 30 home games during their first season in OOB and we’re excited to bring the funk to their first ever game.

Funky Friday Returns To Gingko Blue

The summer is young and it’s already been very very good to the Boomshack. We got James back from Europe, although his liver is still attempting to clear customs after being accused of smuggling several liters* of various spirits. To celebrate, we’re bringing him back to the Old Port with us and declaring June 22nd an extra special Funky Friday.

Which means you need to gather all your favorite funkonauts and come party with us at Gingko Blue this Friday night. The beat drops at 9:00 pm and goes until they shut the power off on us. No cover, no excuses.

While we’ve got a moment, thanks to everyone who made it out to Mr. Goodbar this past Thursday night – we had a blast and are looking forward to dropping some more funky soul on the Beach in August!

* That’s right – liters. We’re gettin’ all metric up in this joint!

Hear Us Now, Funk Us Later In June

Good morning Funkonauts!

Let’s get this thing started out on the good foot, shall we? Lots of thanks to everyone who has been coming out to our shows. As much as we all love playing music, it’s always better when we can see y’all gettin’ down in front of us, having a good time. We truly appreciate all the kind words and the support over the last year.

Speaking of which, this June marks the Boomshack’s first year of playing out live! We’re going to be celebrating big time this coming Saturday night at The Run Of The Mill in Saco. We’ll be out on the patio (keep yer fingers crossed for good weather) getting the crowd moving. If you’ve never been over to The Mill before, there’s plenty of room to dance and lots of good craft beer on tap. Get there early and help us get the party started right at 9pm. No cover, no excuses. Joining us for this great night on guitar will be an original member of the ‘Shack, Scott Morgan.

The rest of the month is going to be a busy one as well. The weekend after next, we’ll be at Bray’s Brew Pub in Naples for Funky Friday June 8th (no cover). We’ll be at Mr. Goodbar in Old Orchard Beach on Thursday June 14th (21+ and $5 cover) – this is a new venue for us and we’d love to see all your smiling faces in the audience to support us. Then we’ll be at Gingko Blue in Portland on Funky Friday June 22nd (no cover) for all you Old Port aficionados. Also, if you’re finding your way up to The Maine Blues Festival on Father’s Day weekend, you’ll be able to catch Sam and John playing on Friday and Saturday – more information once we find out venues and times.

Again, thanks for coming out and we look forward to seeing y’all very very soon. Remember to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the latest updates.

Have a Funky, Funky St. Patrick’s Day

People! What’s going on? Things have been cooking in the Boomshack kitchen as of late. After bouncing around the state for the last couple weeks, we were finally able to congregate in our funk-lined bunker and continue polishing some new tunes this past weekend. We are now prepared to unleash them on the world!

This Saturday night, we’ll be playing Jimmy The Greek’s at 215 Saco Avenue in Old Orchard Beach. Don’t know what’s so special about that? Other than being another great chance to shake what yo’ mama gave ya, it’s St. Patrick’s Day! What better place to celebrate than a pub that has over 120 beers available and plenty of Guinness on tap?

There’s an early start to this one – 8:00pm – so get your dancing shoes on early. Once we hit the stage, it’s full speed ahead through midnight. Bring a couple friends and spend the day with the Boomshack at The Greek!

The Return Of Funky Friday

Dig funkonauts, we’re bringing the funk back to Bull Feeney’s this Friday night in a big way. Coming to you all the way live.

Dig out them platform shoes, clean the gunk off them sunglasses, and bring your flashlight – starting at 9:30 pm we’re bringing nothing but straight soul and funk until 1:00 am. So slide on down to Fore Street this Friday night for a good time with us!

And for those future-looking folks out there, we’ll be heading out of Portland for a bit after this… Saturday March 3rd at Kelley’s Row (Dover, NH), Friday March 9th at Bray’s Brew Pub (Naples, ME), and then a big St. Patrick’s Day bash on Saturday March 17th at Jimmy The Greek’s (Old Orchard Beach, ME).

Catch us now or funk us later!
