Tonight at Gingko Blue in Portland

1013392_10101067240558219_315905449_nMorning funkonauts – it’s a beautiful day for some funk, don’t you agree? Well, then slide on downtown and shake everything you got with us. We’re playing at Gingko Blue at the corner of Fore and Union tonight in the Old Port and we want to see every one of you there. This is going to be great show because you’ll get a chance to hear all of the songs from the new album live and in person tonight along with a couple of surprises.

Speaking of the new album, we’re in the process of getting this beautiful 9-track manifesto of funky soul music mastered and ready to get printed onto shiny little discs for y’all to enjoy. Our PledgeMusic campaign is still open for pre-orders and pledges – grab your copy of the album, have it signed, or maybe sign yourself up for a homemade pie or a couple burgers with James. Why did we keep the campaign open? When we started this thing, we set a modest goal that would cover half the cost of recording the album (we fronted the other half). Thanks to your support, we reached that goal the day before going into the studio – which is awesome. Now that we’ve finished recording and mixing, there’s still the very important step of mastering – that last greasy coat of goodness that’ll turn this sucker out. If you’ve already pledged, thank you very much. If you haven’t, then it’s not too late because the campaign will be open through the rest of the month. All pledges and pre-orders from this point forward help us cover the cost of mastering and duplication.

Keep on spreading the word folks and see you tonight!

Funky Friday at Bull Feeney’s

1794557_10101515759866929_2042081279_nWell, the reindeer games are done in the studio, so it’s about time we got back out into the world and got our funk on!

Um, it’s still cool if we keep our pajamas on though, right? Right?

Fine, we’ll change…

Tonight, we’ll be hitting Bull Feeney’s like Big Papi taking batting practice – it’s gonna be greasy. It’s gonna be sweaty. It’s gonna be funky. You need to be there. 375 Fore Street is the address and the beat drops at 9:30pm with no cover. If necessary, James and Alex will give out big sweaty hugs to everyone who asks.

So yeah, we’re finished recording the album – nine songs laid down and mixed. We’d like to thank uber-producer Jonathan Wyman over at The Halo for all his hard work and expertise in helping these songs come to life. And while we’re at it, thank you to everyone who kicked in on our PledgeMusic campaign! You’ve been an incredibly important part of making this album.

If you haven’t pre-ordered the album or pledged yet, it’s not too late! We’re keeping the campaign open until the end of March so you can jump on that train right now. Why are we still shilling for this you might ask? Because we set a modest goal for our campaign that covered half of our recording costs (we pulled together the other half). Now that we’re finished recording, it’s time to master all the tracks – a very important part of the process. Every pledge and pre-order now will help us cover the cost of working with some of the best mastering engineers on the planet and help this little baby of ours reach its full potential. So what are you waiting for?

See you tonight!

Studio Day #1 Tomorrow

Greetings funkonauts! It’s a beautiful day here in Maine in spite of snow, sleet, and other miscellaneous attempts at getting us down. Why? Because tomorrow morning, we head into the studio to start recording an album!

This is a journey that began over 3 years ago when our little group of funkateers came together and laid it down playing one of the funkiest songs ever composed (that’d be “Shake Everything You Got” by Maceo Parker). From there, it’s been 3 years of getting people on the dance floor, laughter, and writing funky soul music. The fact that we’re going to be able to record our songs and keep this thing going is all because of the people who have been incredibly supportive of us – spouses, friends, family, and fans. On Valentines Day, it only seems appropriate that this’d turn into a love letter. Thank you from the bottom of our funky little hearts.

We’re going to be posting updates on our progress in the studio here on the site, Facebook, Twitter, and maybe a couple other places as well. The pre-order for the album is still open and will remain open until the end of March. Slide on over and grab your copy now – all the funds that come in beforehand help us to put out the best album possible and we appreciate all the support.

Funky Soul Hitting The Studio

artistdevphotoGreetings to all the funkonauts out there… In case you didn’t know, we’re hitting the studio in just five days! Not only is this going to feature some old school funky soul music, it’s also going to be an old school style recording session. Going in, laying it down live, and all in about a week.

Want to be a part of this thing? We’re using PledgeMusic to help fund the session and we’re sitting at 76% of our goal right now because of all the support fans, friends, and complete strangers have been throwing our way. Although with thrilled with the progress so far, we still have a ways to go and 9 days to do it.

We’re not asking something for nothing people – you get what you give. Whatever you pledge, you get a sweet exclusive from us related to the album. You can pre-order the album for $10 as a digital download, $15 for a CD, or $20 for a signed CD. Want something more unique? How about a disposable camera filled with behind-the-scenes photos of us making the album taken by band members – along with a digital download? For $50, you get a download plus a handwritten lyrics sheet to any of our songs. For $65, you get a download plus a signed drum head. For $75 you get your name in the liner notes and a signed CD. For $85, you can have burgers in Portland with our very own “Burger” James Hebert plus a signed CD. For $150 you get a homemade pie baked by Lisa along with a signed CD. If you’re really ambitious, for $2,000 we’ll be the band for your next house party anywhere in New England.

Head on over to the page and check it out. We’ll be posting here, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube with updates from the studio.
